At the far end of the little plain south of the castle hill, is a small bay with a shelving beach, at whose south east corner are some remains of ancient buildings now partly in the sea; they include a good piece of sturdy polygonal walling & a patch of pebble mosaic. There seems to be fresh water here; & there may have been an ancient landing stage, but the rise of sea level makes observation difficult. 1 2
