data access 26225

Late Roman fort, possibly founded by Constantine the Great in 311. The Valkhof remained in used as fortress (with all kinds of rebuilding) until 1797, when the people of Nijmegen celebrated the abolishment of feudalism and their "Batavian" freedom and created a lovely park. Some Medieval remains and one Roman tower survive.
