Original Limes Course

data access 26827

This is a segment of the original course of the Upper Germanic Limes.  In the mid second century when the wooden towers were replaced by stone, the line was straightened.  Just northwest of the small fort Eichelgarten the old and new ditches come together and are clearly visible.  For identification, the sites of the older wooden towers were numbered in the same sequence but followed by an asterisk (*)  There is not a heading for "Wall" thus "Castle" is used, which is not completely correct.
