Petra, Lower Market

data access 31588

Excavations beginning in 1998 indicated the so called Lower Market  adjacent to the "Great Temple" may be the location of a formal garden with a pool.
The Petra Garden and Pool Complex is located on an artificial terrace overlooking the Colonnaded Street in the city centre. It was built during the reign of the Nabataean king, Aretas IV  Philopatris (9 BC-40 AD) .
